1981: On General Hospital, the residents of Port Charles wanted Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis) to have a big wedding.

1968: On Dark Shadows, Joe Haskell (Joel Crothers) stabbed himself with a letter opener after Angelique (Lara Parker) told him that he bored her and wanted him to go.

1973: On The Doctors, Dr. Matt Powers (James Pritchett) reassured Dr. Althea Davis (Elizabeth Hubbard) while Dr. Nick Bellini (Gerald Gordon) performed surgery on her daughter, Penny.

John Clarke Dead at 88


Veteran Days of our Lives star John "Jack" Clarke has died on October 17 in California from complications of pneumonia. He was 88.

Clarke had previously suffered a stroke in 2007 and has had declining health in the last few years.

Clarke was best known for his 39-year run as Mickey Horton on NBC soap opera Days of our Lives. He was an original cast member of the iconic daytime serial in 1965 and played the role until 2004.

In 1979, he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series category. He was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Emmy for his work in 2004.

1957: On The Right to Happiness, Nurse Helen Mason (Ruth Newton) reported overhearing a racketeer's confession of drugging her patient which broke the defense of the fraudulent insurance claim case.

1967: On Dark Shadows, Dave Woodard (Peter Turgeon) told Julia Hoffman (Grayson Hall) that he discovered the "original" Barnabas Collins had a sister named Sarah. He then revealed he met and walked with Sarah (Sharon Smyth) in the mausoleum.

1968: On The Doctors, Congressman Jason Randall (M. Emmet Walsh) arrived at Hope Memorial for a hospital tour with a posse of reporters, flustering Nurse Simpson (Carolee Campbell).

1969: On Dark Shadows, Count Andreas Petofi (David Selby), in Quentin's body, informed Angelique she had to follow his orders in the future. Julia (Grayson Hall) realized that Petofi (Thayer David) was really Quentin but then disappeared back to 1969.

Daytime Ratings: 'Days of our Lives' Up For The Week In Women 18-49 and 18-34

The Live + Same Day daytime ratings are in for January 9-January 13, 2016. According to Nielsen, The Young and the Restless (-298,000), The Bold and the Beautiful (-290,000), General Hospital (-165,000) and Days of our Lives (-40,000) were all down for the week in total viewers.

However, Days of our Lives was up in women 18-49 (+8,000), while Y&R (+12,000), B&B (+37,000), and Days (+10,000) were up in women 18-34.

Daytime Ratings: 'General Hospital' Up for the Week in All Major Demos

The Live + Same Day daytime ratings are in for January 2-January 6, 2016. According to Nielsen, The Bold and the Beautiful was the only soap up for the week in total viewers (+55,000), while General Hospital (+107,000) was up for the week in all major demos.

Please Note: There were preemptions on January 6 due to the Fort Lauderdale Airport shooting.

'Days of our Lives' Casting Alex

Days of our Lives is searching for a strong actor between the ages of 30 and 39 to take on the role of Alex.

According to soap opera digest, the casting description reads, "Alex has spent the last ten years traveling the world and amassing a small fortune. His ambition grew and his success in the marketplace has given him an enough of a cocky confidence to come to Salem with an agenda to challenge his family for control of the business. When it comes to women, Alex can be a bit of a playboy like his dad used to be."

'Days of our Lives' January 18 Sneak Peek: Abigail Worries Chad Still Has Feelings For Gabi

Tomorrow, on Days of our Lives, Abigail worries that Chad has lingering feelings for Gabi. Will Abigail allow her fears to destroy her marriage? Later, she and Gabi each realize something big is going down with their families.

Meanwhile, Chad calls a meeting with Sonny and Dario, and Dario and Eduardo discover that Deimos stole the hard drive. Dario declares war against Deimos.

Joseph Ferrante Cast as Marcus on 'Days of our Lives'

Joseph Ferrante revealed on instagram he has been cast in the role of Marcus on Days of our Lives

"Officially on board for an episode, playing MARCUS. Filming at the end of the month!
#daysofourlives #nbc," he posted.

Yesterday, Serial Scoop posted a video of actor Myles Forster auditioning for this character. In the now deleted video, Marcus is revealed to be working for Deimos (Vincent Irizary).

Transcript of Leaked 'DAYS' Audition: Serums and Amulets and Masks...Oh Sweet Lord!

Yesterday, Serial Scoop posted a video of actor Myles Forster auditioning for the role of Marcus on Days of our Lives.

 In the now deleted video, Deimos reveals to Marcus he blames Sonny for taking his spot at titan, ruining his relationship with Nicole, and for getting his hands on an amulet- a piece of jewelry that protects its owner against evil- that Deimos claims belongs to him.

 Deimos vows he will do whatever it takes to get the amulet back and says "Even if it means Sonny meets an untimely end and I have to rip it from his cold dead hands."

'Days of our Lives' January 17 Sneak Peek: Eric Returns and Anna Shoots Steve

Tomorrow on Days of our Lives, Carrie and Austin search for a missing Anna, while Rafe, Steve and Paul get ready to confront Stefano.

However, just as they're about to nab him, an unstable Anna appears and foils the plan. In the aftermath, Steve is shot. When Kayla hears about her husband, she decides to go to Prague.

Elsewhere, Hope is surprised to learn Eric is her caretaker and the two catch up. Will her cover be blown when a police officer knocks on the door?

Meanwhile, Theo, Claire, Ciara, Joey and Jade decide to live together. Will they make it through the year without wanting to kill each other?

Days of our Lives airs weekdays on NBC.

'Days of our Lives' Spoilers: Leaked Audition Reveals Deimos Has Snapped; May Kill Sonny

Today on Days of our Lives, Nicole, Chloe, and Sonny overhear Deimos make a deadly threat against Andre. However, Deimos is just getting started with his bad behavior.

A leaked audition on vimeo reveals Deimos is willing to murder Sonny for revenge and profit. Deimos blames Sonny for taking his spot at titan, ruining his relationship with Nicole, and for getting his hands on an amulet- a piece of jewelry that protects its owner against evil- that Deimos claims belongs to him. Deimos vows he will do whatever it takes to get the amulet back, "Even if it means Sonny meets an untimely end and I have to rip it from his cold dead hands."

'Days of our Lives' January 16 Sneak Peek: Will Nicole be Reunited with Baby Holly?

 Will Nicole lose out on being reunited with Holly on Days of our Lives?
Tomorrow, on Days of our Lives, Nicole, Chloe, and Sonny overhear Deimos make a deadly threat against Andre. Although I'm sure Chloe isn't surprised, will Nicole and Sonny finally clue into the type of person Deimos really is?

In the aftermath, Sonny tries to get control over his uncle and poor Chloe collapses. Chloe was prepared to reveal the truth about Holly, but did Nicole's fiance ruin her chances of being reunited with her child?

Meanwhile, it seems as though Valerie and Theo are finally getting along. As Theo and Claire start planning for the future, Val offers them some good advice.

Elsewhere, Justin is there for Adrienne as she continues to deal with her cancer diagnosis. Will this bring them together or does Adrienne's heart still belong to Lucas?

Greg Vaughan's New Movie 'Valentine's Again', Gets Premiere Date on Hallmark

Valentine's Again makes its Hallmark Original World Premiere on Sunday, February 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The film stars Greg Vaughan (Days of our lives), Nicky Whelan (Matador), and Marina Sirtis (Star Trek: The Next Generation)

Katherine (Whelan), a successful, workaholic advertising executive, endures the worst Valentine’s Day date of her life, which she believes confirms she will never find the right guy, let alone true love. She storms out of the restaurant, and on her walk home, takes pity on a homeless gypsy (Sirtis), giving her money. As Katherine walks away, we see the gypsy weave a magical spell. Katherine returns to her apartment and falls asleep, and when she awakens and goes to work, she realizes it is Valentine’s morning again -- she’s reliving the same day.

'Days of our Lives' Preview: Eric Is Back and Dario Wants Deimos Dead

The latest NBC promo for Days of our Lives reveals that Eric is back and taking care of an injured Hope. She asks Eric, "How did you get out of prison?"

Meanwhile, Nicole and Deimos are getting married, but Dario is against the union. "Stay away from Deimos," he tells her.

Later, Dario makes it clear he has a good reason for wanting Nicole to break away from Deimos when he tells a mystery man, "I want him dead by tonight!"

Freddie Smith's Contract Set to Expire at 'DAYS'; Will He Renew?

Sonny (Freddie Smith) and Paul (Christopher Sean) recently shared a passionate New Year’s Eve kiss on Days of our Lives-- Well, as passionate a kiss as gay men can have on soaps-- and are in the process of finding their way back to each other. The only impediment to a reunion may be Smith's contract which is set to expire.

However, Smith reveals in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest that he hopes to continue on DAYS as Sonny. "I’ve learned that DAYS is an iconic show and I just love what they’re doing. If It makes any sense, I need to be there.”
